Type 2 diabetes and sleep disorders to be explored in upcoming webinar – The Diabetes Times

Healthcare professionals are invited to register for an online event looking at the identification and management of type 2 diabetes and sleep disorders.

The webinar will explore the bidirectional relationship between type 2 diabetes and obstructive sleep apnoea hypnoses syndrome (OSAHS).

In addition, the virtual session will highlight the evidence behind poor quality and quantity sleep as an adverse cardiometabolic risk factor.

Taking place on Thursday, April 25, between 7pm and 8pm, the webinar will be led by Dr Kevin Fernando – a partner of North Berwick Health Centre who has a special interest in diabetes.

At the end of the webinar, attendees will have learned about:

  • The importance of duration and quality of sleep as major metabolic risk factors
  • The bidirectional association of type 2 diabetes and OSAHS
  • Diagnosis and management of OSAHS in primary care
  • Obstructive sleep apnoea in children
  • Healthy sleep hygiene.
