ITV weather presenter and father to mark kidney donation at Newcastle Bridges Walk hosted by Kidney Research UK

ITV weather presenter and father, Ross Hutchinson, is set to mark his kidney donation at the upcoming Newcastle Bridges Walk hosted by Kidney Research UK. Hutchinson, who donated his kidney to his son in a life-saving transplant operation, will be joining hundreds of other participants in the charity walk to raise awareness and funds for kidney research.

Hutchinson’s journey to becoming a kidney donor began when his son was diagnosed with kidney failure at the age of 16. After undergoing numerous tests, it was determined that Hutchinson was a suitable match to donate one of his kidneys to his son. The transplant operation was a success, and Hutchinson’s son is now leading a healthy and active life thanks to his father’s selfless act.

The Newcastle Bridges Walk, which takes place on Sunday, September 12th, is an annual event organized by Kidney Research UK to raise funds for vital research into kidney disease. The walk will see participants cross seven of Newcastle’s iconic bridges, including the Tyne Bridge and the Millennium Bridge, while enjoying stunning views of the city.

Hutchinson is encouraging others to join him at the event and show their support for kidney research. He believes that raising awareness about the importance of organ donation and the impact of kidney disease is crucial in helping to save lives and improve the quality of life for those affected by the condition.

Kidney Research UK is the leading charity dedicated to funding research into kidney disease, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. The organization funds groundbreaking research projects that aim to improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of kidney disease, as well as supporting patients and their families through education and advocacy.

By participating in events like the Newcastle Bridges Walk, individuals can make a real difference in the fight against kidney disease. Whether through fundraising, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, everyone has a role to play in supporting those affected by this debilitating condition.

For Hutchinson, the walk is not only a chance to celebrate his son’s successful transplant but also an opportunity to give back to the organization that has been instrumental in funding research that has directly impacted his family. He hopes that his story will inspire others to consider becoming organ donors and supporting the important work being done by Kidney Research UK.

The Newcastle Bridges Walk promises to be a fun and rewarding event for participants of all ages and abilities. Whether walking alone or with a team, everyone is welcome to join in and show their support for kidney research.
