Dietitian puts diabetes education under the spotlight in latest Big Interview – The Diabetes Times

The importance of education for health and social care professionals was discussed by a diabetes specialist dietitian in the latest online interview for the Diabetes Times.

Candice Ward, Lead of the Cambridge Diabetes Education Programme (CDEP), spoke with DT Editor Oliver Jelley about the online diabetes training for health and social care staff.

During the interview, she also shared how she fell into the world of diabetes after originally specialising in paediatrics.

Candice said: “I love working in diabetes. The entire healthcare system should know a bit about diabetes.”

CDEP is bite-sized diabetes training for health and social care workers. It was designed and tested by a multi-disciplinary, diabetes specialist team, consisting of nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, health care assistants, general practitioners and hospital consultants.

It is based on the UK’s nationally recognised diabetes framework of competencies for healthcare practitioners, to ensure that they have the right diabetes skills and knowledge to support people living with diabetes.
